Our Building Project

In October 2023, we won a pot of £1.4 million from the Youth Investment Fund. Due to many obstacles on the way due to renovating an old building from the Victorian period, Our current and biggest challenge is the lack of funds to complete our building project. Through your support we can serve our community and re-open our building by March 2025.

The facilities will include a bigger multi-functional space to include a youth club, health and lifestyle facilities and a state-of-the-art building that can be used by external voluntary organisations and community groups.

Our Growing Community Hub: Al-Ghazali Centre’s Transformation

The Al-Ghazali Centre has undergone significant refurbishment to better serve Liverpool’s Muslim community. With demand for our services increasing, we have secured a £1.5 million grant from the British Government’s Youth Investment Fund to enhance our facilities.

  • Enhanced Educational Spaces: Our classrooms, previously spread across different floors, have been consolidated into a dedicated education department. The addition of a mezzanine floor now provides 13 purpose-built classrooms, two offices, and new toilet facilities, creating a cohesive learning environment for both Islamic and academic education.
  • Vibrant Community Space: The ground floor has been transformed into a multifunctional space for events, conferences, and celebrations. With new kitchen and sanitation facilities, it now serves as a welcoming venue for cultural gatherings, weddings, and workshops, fostering unity and community spirit.

Ongoing Building Improvements for a Better Community Experience

We are committed to further enhancing our facilities to create a safer, more inclusive, and dynamic space for our community. Our ongoing developments include:

  • Youth & Wellness Hub: The basement is being transformed into a dedicated space for youth services, including:
    • A fully equipped gym for fitness and well-being.
    • A health and wellness hub featuring a sauna and steam room for physical and mental wellness.
  • Safety & Accessibility Upgrades: Installation of a new dormer and fire exit stairs to improve building safety.
  • Expanded Office Spaces: Additional office areas to better support administrative and community service needs.
  • Building Enhancements:
    • Window & Roof Replacement: Upgrading insulation, security, and structural integrity.
    • New Flooring: Durable, modern flooring for improved usability and aesthetics.
    • Furniture & Technology Upgrades: New classroom and office furniture alongside modern educational tools.
  • Exterior Improvements: Repointing and cleaning brickwork, along with new gutters, to ensure the building’s long-term durability.
By supporting the Al-Ghazali Centre, you become part of a transformative journey, creating a lasting ripple effect of positive change for our community.

Our Building Project

The Al-Ghazali Centre currently operates from a former church building, which has been partially refurbished to meet the needs of the growing community. As demand for services has increased, essential upgrades have been undertaken to better fulfill the Centre’s mission and accommodate the community effectively.

A generous £1.5 million grant from the British Government’s Youth Investment Fund, awarded through the Department of Sport, Culture, and Media, has enabled significant progress in transforming the Centre’s facilities. This funding has facilitated the refurbishment of the ground and first floors, including the addition of a mezzanine level, enhancing the Centre’s ability to support educational, cultural, and social programmes.

The Financial Request from the Centre

We seek £879,729.07 to complete the basement development and essential upgrades, fully realizing the Centre’s vision for the community.

Your donation will help create a purpose-built youth club featuring sports facilities, a gym, and a health & wellness hub with a sauna and steam room, providing a safe space for youth to thrive physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

This is an opportunity for sadaqah jariyyah—a lasting charity that will benefit generations to come. Your generosity will preserve the Muslim identity in Liverpool, strengthen our community, and leave a legacy of goodness for the future.
